Wanzn Shines at the Hydraulic Engineering Professional Technical Exchange Conference (2023)

Wanzn Fire Technology Co., Ltd. is honored to be invited to participate in the 2023 Hydraulic Engineering Professional Technical Exchange Conference. Mr. Yao Zhenchen, Chief Technical Officer, delivered a speech titled "Energy Storage Fire Protection Topic: Overall Strategy and Application of Electrochemical Energy Storage Box Fire Protection", which attracted great attention and recognition from the attendees.


From June 27th to 30th, 2023, Wanzn was invited to participate in the 2023 Hydraulic Engineering Professional Technical Exchange Conference held in Guangzhou. This exchange meeting is hosted by the Soil and Water Special Committee of China Electric Power Planning and Design Association, and co organized by Guangdong Electric Power Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Yingsui Fire Equipment Co., Ltd. Mr. Yao Zhenchen participated in the special forum and technical exchange meeting, and delivered a speech titled "Energy Storage Fire Protection Special Topic: Overall Strategy and Application of Electrochemical Energy Storage Box Fire Protection".

In his speech, Mr. Yao Zhenchen, CTO of Wanzn, deeply analyzed the fire issues in the new energy field, and explained in detail the research method of using Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) from multiple aspects such as detection, firefighting, ventilation, and explosion relief. This seamlessly combined fire safety with battery safety, circuit safety, and layout safety, building a complete barrier to protect the safety of energy storage containers/outdoor cabinets. He pointed out that although the probability of a fire in the energy storage system is very low, the intensity and danger of a fire in the energy storage system are much higher than those in general fire accidents due to the various characteristics of lithium-ion batteries when they lose control of heat. Therefore, how to effectively prevent and extinguish fires has become an urgent problem to be solved. As an expert in the field of technology, he deeply analyzed the causes, characteristics, and response strategies of battery fires, and proposed a series of innovative solutions.

Mr. Yao Zhenchen also provided an in-depth introduction to the jurisdiction and applicable capacity starting point of the installation standard for NFPA855 fixed energy storage systems. He pointed out that the formulation of the NFPA855 standard has important practical significance, which can effectively regulate the development of the energy storage fire protection industry and ensure the safety of people's lives and property. On this basis, he proposed a series of multi-level and multi-stage overall fire protection strategies and application plans based on the actual situation of the company, aiming to improve the reliability and safety of the energy storage fire protection system.

In addition, Mr. Yao Zhenchen also explained in detail the technical principles of fire alarm systems, fire extinguishing systems, gas fire extinguishing systems, water-based fire extinguishing systems, water sprinkler systems, and fine water mist systems, as well as solutions such as air intake and exhaust devices and explosion relief devices of Wanzhen to the attendees. After introducing that Wanzn is applying the guiding standards of German water mist protection energy storage systems, combined with its successful experience in applying high-pressure water mist systems to provide fire protection in power projects such as Guangzhou Hengyun Power Plant and Hainan Wenchang Power Plant, and developing high-pressure water mist systems suitable for energy storage systems, he emphasized that technological progress and innovation are important guarantees for enterprise development, and only continuous exploration and innovation are necessary, in order to remain invincible in the fierce market competition.

The participating organizations and units showed strong interest in the module level protection scheme mentioned by Mr. Yao Zhenchen, especially the "embedded fire extinguishing device flexible suppression pipe" and "embedded hydrogen detector". The flexible suppression tube has multiple functions such as temperature detection, agent storage, agent transportation, and agent spraying, which can fully achieve early intervention, reduce the scale of thermal runaway and near heat source spraying, and greatly reduce the efficiency of heat propagation within the module. The installation is also very simple. The embedded hydrogen detector of Wanzn can detect excessive hydrogen concentration 10 minutes before thermal runaway, and combine with BMS's own algorithm to form a three-level alarm strategy, with accurate positioning and on-site disposal. These innovative solutions and technologies have attracted widespread attention and recognition from attendees, showcasing Wanzn's leading position and technological strength in the energy storage and fire protection industry.
